|My oldest brother, John E. Coderre had traced my Coderre line back to France, so I began with his help, to trace my wife, Lucille's Ranger line. Her Grandfather, Ovila Ranger, had done a good deal of work and I thank him for that help and I dedicate this site to his memory. Using the facilities of the National Archives of Canada and the National Library in Ottawa and the Archives National in Hull, now Gatineau, I began to collect Rangers and accumulated a fairly large file. I met other descendants of Hubert Ranger dit Laviolette on the net and exchanged my information on their roots for their information on their branches. I thank all of them for their co-operation.
Lucille died in June of this year and I am 78 and have been diagnosed with Cancer. I have decided that it was time to put my file in a safe place where others can view it.
Although I have been involved in genealogy for almost fifty years, I am new to searching on the net but I hope learn more about that. I invite comments and questions. If find mistakes, please let me know. My brother Jack, told me that finding out that you were wrong is just as much a victory as proving that you were right.|
