 | In 2003, I published the only book examining the Colonial history of the OSheal family. The title is OSHEAL-CHUMLEY. The record begins with John Osheal and his wife, Alice Apsley, Middlesex, London, England.
I have seen messages placed on the Internet claiming to have Colonial OSheal research prior to my 2003 copyright date. This information is not true. Most of the known Colonial OSheal history was discovered either by me or my cousin, who collaborated with me in writing the book.
I admit I have no documentation which proves David OSheal married one Elizabeth Maria Pugh. This information was supplied to me unsourced, and I now regret publishing it in my book. No primary documents have ever surfaced to back an OSheal connection to the Pugh family.
One other book on the O'Shields was published prior to my book, but this book deals with some of the descendants of David OSheal and not the Colonial history of the family. This book was researched and compiled by Lonnie O'Shields. Many O'Shields throughout the United States have used Lonnie's book as a source to find their ancestors. |
